Slovenia has the unfortunate job of being the first team that Russia gets to play against in the 2014 Winter Olympics men’s ice hockey tournament. While any given team can win on any given day, the odds seem good that the Russians will be incredibly fired up to play in front of their hometown fans in Sochi.
How supercharged will Alex Ovechkin be? Is Pavel Datsyuk healthy enough to make a difference? Can Anze Kopitar possibly log enough minutes to stop what should be an incredibly potent attack from the Russians? The only way to find out is to watch the game, and we’ve got all your viewing information right here.
Date: February 13
Start Time: 7:30 A.M. ET
Location: Sochi, Russia
TV Info: MSNBC
Live Stream: NBC Olympics Live Extra
While Russia will be favored in this contest, a setback against Slovenia could prove devastating to its medal hopes. The United States and Slovakia are the other two squads in Group A, and both will provide much tougher tests than Slovenia. Getting even a point here would be considered a big push for Slovenia, while the Russians are clearly looking to win in regulation.
