The 2014 Winter Olympics men’s ice hockey tournament is only a few hours away from beginning, and Latvia will be taking on Switzerland as part of a double header to open the preliminary round. The two teams might not showcase as many big names of the likes of Canada and the United States, but they both need points all the same.
For the Swiss—who are a sleeper pick to do some damage in Sochi—this is almost a must-win game right out of the gate. Sweden and the Czech Republic are the other two teams’s in Switzerland’s group, and both squads prevent a much tougher out than Latvia. A loss here today would be tough to swallow as the prelims move on.
