Taylor Stubblefield was announced as the new wide receivers coach of the Utah Utes on Wednesday.

Stubblefield, a consensus All-American during his playing days for the Purdue Boilermakers, was hired for the same job at Eastern Michigan University less than one week ago. (If that seems odd to you, just know Stubblefield has the tendency move around quite a bit.)

The newest member of head coach Kyle Whittingham’s staff expressed his excitement in the official announcement:

I’m fired up to be at Utah and to work for someone as accomplished as Coach Whittingham. I couldn’t ask for a better situation with the style of offense coach Christensen plans to run, which fits my background perfectly. On a personal note, I am from Washington and my family and I are excited to be back out West (Desert News).

Wittingham also offered his assessment of the hire:

Taylor was a record-setting college receiver who has developed into a fine coach. He will be an asset for us both on the field and through his recruiting ties across the country. We are excited to have Taylor join our staff.

Stubblefield worked on the coaching staff at Wake Forest last season.
