On Wednesday, Derek Jeter announced the 2014 would be his last – sending the baseball world into a tailspin.
Fans, media and even players reacted in shock. We all knew it was coming in the near future, but, Jeter’s announcement made it a reality.
Many players have given their views on Jeter’s announcement, though, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim slugger Albert Pujols will likely take the crown – suggesting that the iconic New York Yankees shortstop is essentially the closest thing we’ve seen to Jesus.
Pujols on Jeter: “On and off field, he’s the way you want your kids to grow up, Only Jesus is perfect, but he’s pretty close to that guy.”
Pretty big praise, eh?
Pujols completely shot over comparing Jeter to other Major League Baseball legend, opting for the man upstairs.
At least, that’s my assumption. I don’t think Pujols was comparing him to the guy who lives on the third story of a Bronx apartment complex who has to continually correct people and tell them his name is pronounced ‘Hey-Zeus’. Because that might be weird.
