Chael Sonnen vs Wanderlei Silva moved to 5/31 in Brazil

Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva have a new date and place for their colossal battle after the completion of TUF Brazil 3. According to Globo, the UFC has decided to move the bout from UFC 173 in Vegas, to a week later on May 31st at an event in Brazil. Wanderlei Silva was asking for the fight to be in Brazil, and it looks like he got his wish. The

This looks to be an intelligent move by the UFC, as the Brazilian fans are dying to see this fight. Undoubtedly this bout will now serve as the main event, rather than the co-main from UFC 173.

This news also confirms that Sonnen will not be stepping up on short notice next weekend at UFC 170 to take on Daniel Cormier. If you have not heard, former UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Rashad Evans, injured his leg in training and needs about four weeks of rehab before he will be cleared to fight. The UFC 170 co-main event was then scratched, and the UFC is looking to rebook the bout at UFC 172.

Chael Sonnen, who is always ready to save the UFC if necessary, offered his services on just 10 days notice, but the UFC could not risk losing the Sonnen vs Wanderlei fight. It is simply too risky considering the fact that they currently are filming a TUF season in order to hype the fight more.
