Last night, on UFC Tonight, Ariel Helwani broke some big news to MMA fans from the mouth of the UFC president, Dana White. Apparently, UFC Heavyweight, Alistair Overeem, turned down a fight with former UFC Heavyweight champion, Junior Dos Santos. The men were set to meet twice already, but failed drug tests and injuries have derailed the previous bouts.
Now, Dana White is saying that Overeem is ‘hiding’ from Junior Dos Santos:
Reem was offered a 5 round main event in Brazil and said no, also a 3-round co-main in Vegas. Turned it down. He’s hiding from JDS. – Dana

Clearly, Overeem is not on Dana’s good side as of now. After losing two straight by vicious KO, Overeem got back in the win column against Frank Mir at UFC 169. Why it may not have been the most exciting bout, it was certainly a dominant performance by Overeem. Dana White, however, was unimpressed and called Overeem’s performance ‘crappy’.
Of course, anytime Dana White says a fighter turns down a fight, it is in hopes that the media circus will forget the extenuating circumstances and simply bash the fighter for not taking the fight. Before we become so brash and question Overeem, he has this to say on Twitter last night:
Twitter going bananas! Not running for anyone, on holiday right now & also rehabbing injuries so not ready to discuss a fight at this time.

Evidently White may just be upset that Overeem is not taking the fight when the boss wants him to, but that does not mean it can’t happen down the line.
