Former fighter turned analyst and commentator, Jimmy Smith, has signed a new deal with Bellator Fighting Championships thru 2018. Smith and his partner, Sean Wheelock, have been commentating Bellator fights since Season 2 of the promotion back in 2010.
Bellator made the announcement on Twitter earlier today:

Smith was actually a solid fighter and prospect before he became a broadcaster. After racking up a record of 5-1, including four submission victories, Smith decided to pursue a different career in MMA. He was asked to commentate an M1 fight in Amsterdam on a week’s notice and the rest is history. After his first commentating job, he focused on it full time and was soon signed with Bellator. I recently sat down with Jimmy Smith to discuss the upcoming season ten of Bellator, the fights he is looking forward to the most, why he chose commentating over fighting, the possibility of grappling against Joe Rogan at Metamoris, the title shots in Bellator, who he thinks can be the next big MMA star, and much more.
