The NBA’s trade deadline is less than a week away and is expected to heat up significantly during the All-Star break.

Most (if not all) league GM’s will be in attendance and it’s annually the venue where massive trade talks are held.

One name certain to be flowing through the rumor mill will be Los Angeles Lakers power forward Pau Gasol, but if the veteran has anything to say about the trade deadline, it’s that he wants to remain with the Lakers moving forward.

Pau Gasol on trade deadline next Thursday: My preference would be to stay.” Said he might be able to play again next Wednesday.

While a lot of players would like the opportunity to better their situation and be in a playoff race, that doesn’t appear to be a desire of Gasol who’d rather stay in Los Angeles where he’s made himself a comfortable life.

Gasol has been heavily linked to the Phoenix Suns where he’d find himself in a race for the postseason, but the free agent to be would simply prefer to ride things out with the Lakers for the remainder of the season.
