Don’t look now, but the Nebraska Cornhuskers have won two games in a row since they lost their game with the Michigan Wolverines back on Feb. 5.
On Wednesday night, the Huskers defeated the Illinois Fighting Illini 67-58 and moved their overall record to 13-10 overall and are closing in on .500 on the conference now at 5-6.
All things considered, head coach Tim Miles has done quite the nice job with this team, and that may have to do with his impeccable ability to motivate.
In his press conference following Wednesday nights win, Miles gave away his motivational secret, and it involves using the cult classic movie, ‘Major League.’
“I would consider that a small run,” Miles said of his team’s improved play. “If you remember Major League, when the manager comes he says, ‘Fellas we won yesterday and if we win today that’s means we’ve won two in a row. And if we win tomorrow, that’s three and that’s what you call a winning streak. It’s possible.’ So that’s my best Major League, and I believe it’s possible, so we’ll see.”
The win was also their fourth in their last five games, which is again quite the accomplishment for the Nebraska basketball program.
