The New England Patriots went after wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders last offseason, but they couldn’t have foreseen just how badly they’d need him in 2013. Now that another season has passed, the Patriots are likely going to look Sanders’ way again and the Steelers cutting him loose may make acquiring him more easy the second time around.

Pittsburgh is expected to let Sanders walk this offseason, and Mike Reiss from ESPN.com believes the Patriots will make a run after him in free agency and sign him.

"Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette held his weekly Steelers chat and he doesn’t believe the team will re-sign receiver Emmanuel Sanders, who was signed to an offer sheet by the Patriots as a restricted free agent in 2013 before returning to Pittsburgh. If the Patriots lose Julian Edelman, there’s little reason to think the Patriots wouldn’t show the same level of interest in Sanders again."

There are rumors that the Denver Broncos could go after Julian Edelman in the offseason, which would further deplete the Patriots receiving corps. They tried to get Sanders once, and trying again with more desperation isn’t out of the question.
