South Carolina Gamecocks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is a player who many expect to blow up the NFL Scouting Combine next week, and he is already aiming high. If Clowney gets his wish, he will be able to record a mind-blowing 4.4 second 40-yard dash when he takes the field at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
“I hope to run a 4.4 right now,” Clowney told Yahoo! Sports. “That’s my goal. On hand times, I’ve been running 4.4s. I hope I can get a 4.4 at the combine. A 4.5, I’m not too worried about.
“I ain’t going to run a 4.6. I’m probably going to run low 4.5, 4.4.”
At 6-foot-6, 274 pounds, it would be an incredible time for Clowney, however, it can’t be out of the ordinary because he has been known to be an athletic freak. A 4.4 time is certainly not out of the question.
If Clowney can blow up the combine like he plans to do, then he will solidify himself as the top defensive player in the 2014 NFL Draft class — which many believe he already is.
