It is no secret that the Boston Bruins are looking to add a defenseman to help them out in their playoff run. While it’s almost a sure thing that it will happen, don’t expect the player they acquire to that big of a name.
Why? The Bruins don’t want to give up some of the players that others teams might inquire about. Joe Haggerty of CSN New England tweeted this out a couple of days ago.
High prices for D-men on NHL trade market right now. Bruins won't be moving Bartkowski, Spooner or their No. 1 pick for one #BruinsTalk

That takes them out of the running for many of the defenseman up for rental at the trade deadline. All that will be left is depth defenseman that come at a cheap price.
Now, the way that the Bruins blue line stands now, all they really need is a depth defenseman that plays a safe that can also take some pressure off of the Bruins young defensemen. They’re are a few of them on the Bruins, Matt Bartkowski, Torey Krug and Dougie Hamilton to name three of them.
That being said, with the injury to Dennis Seidenberg, the Bruins are without their No. 2 defenseman for the rest of the season. That might put some pressure on General Manager Peter Chiarelli to at least try to replace Seidenberg with a player like him for the rest of the season.
With what Haggerty tweeted, all we know is one thing for sure. Bartkowski and Ryan Spooner can rest easy, knowing that they more than likely won’t be traded. Good news for a young player.
