NHL Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Kings Know They Need Offense

TOTALCOUNT: Array

The Los Angeles Kings know they need offensive help. Even their Twitter page knows it. After the US Women’s Hockey team beat Switzerland 9-0, the Kings official Twitter page sent this tweet out.

Maybe some of the women on the US team would help the Kings, but I’m sure they would rather have an NHLer. To that end, The Fourth Period is reporting a lot of what has been reported before. The Kings are looking for offense and they need it as soon as possible.

In the last 10 games before the Olympic Break, the Kings were 2-8-0. They still hold on to the third playoff spot in the Western Conference’s Pacific Division, having four point lead on the Phoenix Coyotes, the closest team to them in their division.

The Fourth Period is reporting that General Manager Dean Lombardi is ‘scouring’ the NHL looking for more offense. The usual suspects are still being bandied about in Los Angeles. TFP mentions Matt Moulson, Thomas Vanek and Evander Kane. Then of course, there was the rumor that the Kings were close to acquiring Sam Gagner of the Edmonton Oilers.

Lombardi will probably be busy negotiating during the Olympic Break. With only a week or so between the NHL’s return and the March 5 Trade Deadline, the pressure will be on the Kings to make a move.

Of course, it’s not going to be easy. According to Capgeek.com, the Kings have just over $4.1 million in cap space today. That will change when they recall Tyler Toffoli and Martin Jones after the break. That doesn’t leave them much wiggle room to make a trade.
