A few days ago we brought you news that the Oakland Athletics had introduced a new uniform into their lineup.

Now we bring you their new lid.

According to Paul Lukas of ESPN’s Uni Watch, to match with their new threads, the Athletics will introduce a new road hat this season.

There’s not a big wholesale change or anything – in fact – it looks somewhat similar, sans the different color and outline.

Previously, the A’s wore a green cap on the road which featured a yellow ‘A’s’ font. About as simple as you can get. But the new cap, while still green, features a white ‘A’s’ logo and moves the yellow to the border of the A logo.

A lot of people weren’t thrilled when the Athletics did this with the uniform, but, it does give the hat a much cleaner look in my opinion. It also makes the logo ‘pop’ a lot more given the yellow outline.

It doesn’t appear that the home cap, which already has a white logo (though no outline) has changed.

Gold on Green is an Oakland classic – and the city’s colors. As a lifelong Oakland Athletics fan, I am disappointed the A’s chose to ruin what others have called the best road hat in the MLB. Also, the color is Gold, not yellow, although you could make a convincing argument that the new away hat trim around the logo is yellow. The color of the original road hat logo is clearly gold.

Shame. Messing with our uniform too much. Cleanest looking uniforms in the bigs. Stop trying to create revenew lew wolf. What you need to do is quit dicking around and get a new ballpark. I know you hate oakland. The colesium is in shambles and you are dragging the team through the mud!
