The 2014 Winter Olympics have not been too kind for United States men’s figure skater Jeremy Abbott. During the Team Figure Skating competition last week, Abbott took two spills on the ice, but they were nothing compared to what happened on Thursday afternoon in the men’s short program routine.
Abbott went up for a triple and came down without much success.
He crashed hard into the ice and then slid into the wall on the side of the rink where he grabbed his hip in pain.

Luckily, Abbott was able to get back to his feet and went on to perform a great routine that was driven by the support of the crowd.
When it was all said and down, Abbott didn’t get the score that he was hoping for, but he finished with a 72.58 which was good enough for him to hang on to first-place at the time.
