Sochi Olympics, men's individual biathlon results: France captures gold

The men’s individual biathlon is in the books and Martin Fourcade of France was able to beat out his competition by 12.2 seconds to bring home gold in the 2014 Winter Olympics. Second-place and the silver medal belonged to Erik Lesser of Germany, while the third-place finisher was Evgeniy Garanichev to secure bronze for the host country.

Lowell Bailey of the United States finished in eighth-place, which is the best-ever individual result for the U.S. in an Olympic biathlon event.
