One of the best players in the game, and one likely to get a massive payday, could be locked up with his team for a while to come.
Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register spoke with Arte Moreno, the Los Angeles Angels’ General Manager, and discovered that the team indeed is in active talks with their sensational player Mike Trout for a multi-year deal.
Trout and the Angels have been the source of some controversy in the last two off-seasons as the Angels would not work out a multi-year deal before, despite Trout posting two stellar seasons. The 2012 Rookie of the Year posted a .323/.432/.557 slash line in 2013, having driven in 97 runs and scored 109 of his own in his second All-Star campaign.
Some speculate that Trout could garner a $300 million contract, whether by extension with the Angels or through free agency in 2018. It should also be noted that Trout’s first arbitration eligible year is after 2014.
