The BBVA Rising Stars Challenge was on Friday night and the event was an ice way to kick off All-Star Weekend in New Orleans. The game centers on the young and rising stars in the game, with some even playing in Sunday’s All-Star Game as representatives of their respective teams.

Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons stood out as the MVP of the game and was awarded the trophy for Most Valuable Player afterwords — sort of. After a painfully awkward speech by a BBVA COO Angel Cano, the trophy was dropped before it could be handed to Drummond and broke upon hitting the ground.

There’s a bit of a debate going on about just how secure the trophy was prior to it being handed over, as it looked to fall apart before Cano dropped it. Still, Drummond broke the rebounding record for the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, so it was only fitting that he be handed a broken trophy.
