The NHL seems to love having outdoor games these days. With the six outdoor games this year and the all but certain continuation of the Stadium Series next year, a lot of cities have thrown thrown their hat into the ring in hopes to host games themselves.
With the success of the game in Los Angeles, it probably even has teams like Phoenix and the Floridian teams asking for them. However, there is one Major League Baseball team that has confirmed that they would like to host an outdoor game.
.@maciolek1s We have been in discussions with the NHL and the Avalanche and hopefully we will have an outdoor hockey game at Coors Field.

So, if they are definitely in conversation with the NHL about hosting a Colorado Avalanche game, it could happen as soon as next year. The Avalanche are one of the teams that have not participated in an outdoor game before.
Of course, the fact that the game would be played at a higher altitude in open air would also make the game interesting. You would probably have to have oxygen tanks on the bench.
Who could they play? Well, their biggest rivals are probably the Detroit Red Wings. Would the NHL give a team an outdoor game two years in a row? I’m not too sure about that. St. Louis might be a good option if they want to do a divisional game. They could also choose to have another battle of Nathan MacKinnon vs. Seth Jones if they were to choose the Nashville Predators.
The NHL will bring back the Stadium Series for sure. Will the Avalanche be a part of one of them.
