Former NFL player Darren Sharper charged with rape

Former NFL player Darren Sharper has been charged with rape and is facing 30 years in prison, this according to TMZ.

Sharper, a Super Bowl champion and six-time Pro Bowl talent played for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints during his 13-year NFL career.

The Virginia native and former second round draft pick is alleged to have raped two women and drugged them both with zolpidem and morphine.

Among the charges … two counts of rape by use of drugs, four counts of furnishing a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance, all felonies.
The women then passed out and hours later one of the women claims she woke up with Sharper sexually assaulting her.  The second woman says she woke up and “interrupted his actions.”

Sharper, who previously worked for the NFL Network, was arrested on January 17th but posted $200,000 bail.

Officials say this is not the first time Sharper has been accused of such with three other incidents allegedly taking place in Arizona, Louisiana and Arizona.

The judge has been asked to set Sharper’s new bail at $100 million dollars.
