The New York Knicks have said they will not trade Carmelo Anthony during the NBA’s upcoming trade deadline.
That’s a good thing considering the small forward said today that he wants to retire as a member of the New York Knicks.
The potential free agent to be was speaking during the NBA All-Star game media session and told Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports that he doesn’t want to go anywhere.
Melo says he still wants to retire a Knick and his first priority is to stay.
Of course, how much of that is lip service? We’ll find out in a few months.
In addition, Melo reportedly said that he wants to hear a ‘legit plan’ from the Knicks brass before making a decision, essentially putting the blame on the team if he is to depart at season end.
And for those of you hoping that the Knicks will have a last minute change of heart and trade the former Syracuse Orangeman star? Melo says it’s not happening as he knows for a ‘fact’ he won’t be moved.
