The Detroit Pistons have repeatedly denied that Greg Monroe is available outside of a blockbuster trade.
Meanwhile, those in the known have suggested that the former Georgetown product is more than available and could be traded during the NBA’s upcoming deadline. But even if he’s not, Basketball Insider’s Moke Hamilton believes the Pistons will part ways with Monroe after the season.
If they don’t trade him by next week, I think they may re-sign him this summer and try to trade him during next season, he is too good of a player for them to lose for nothing, especially when they’re trying to build.
As Hamilton mentions, there’s absolutely no way the Pistons are going to lose Monroe for nothing – so the most likely scenario out of a trade in the coming days would be for the team to either re-sign Monroe and then trade him down the road or allow a team to engage in a potential sign-and-trade scenario.
Of course, this all depends on if the Pistons truly want to move on from Monroe.
