The Houston Rockets have a handful of needs going into the NBA’s trade deadline, but it appears a two-way guard is at the top of their list.

While a power forward and perimeter player able to create off the dribble have been reported interests, according to the Houston Chronicle, a player who can defend the wing and hit jumpers is at the top of the Rockets wish list.

Morey would not discuss goals for the trade deadline, but several other individuals with knowledge of the team’s thinking said the Rockets already sought to land a backup wing who is strong defensively and can catch-and-shoot, rather than a power forward (considered a priority before the season) or a perimeter player who creates off the dribble.

It’s not known as to what the Rockets are offering up for such a player, though, an assumption would be Omer Asik given the Rockets attempts to trade him earlier this season.

Still, trading Asik will not be easy thanks to his balloon payment which will cost an acquiring team $15 million dollars for the 2014-2015 season.
