The New Orleans Saints purged their roster of some veteran talent earlier this week in an effort to leave no stone unturned when it comes to finding money to give Jimmy Graham. Among the cap casualties so far is defensive end Will Smith, who could end up getting a lot of attention on the market.

According to the ESPNBoston, the New England Patriots could get in on Smith this offseason and pursue signing him.

"Former Saints veteran Will Smith jumps near the top of the list as a potential lower-to-moderate-cost pass-rusher of interest after he was released Wednesday. He also wouldn’t count against the compensatory pick formula."

The Oakland Raiders have also emerged early as potential suitors forSmith tho offseason.

New England is in need of defensive line help and could use a devastating edge presence to play around with on defense. They usually aren’t big spenders in free agency, but the team may go out and get a guy like Smith who will likely be affordable.
