United States snowboarding star Shaun White may have been kept off of the medal podium at the 2014 Winter Olympics after a disappointing run in the men’s halfpipe finals, but that didn’t stop him from becoming an Olympic hero during his time at the Sochi Games.
A few kids from the Make-A-Wish Foundation were flown to Sochi to watch White compete in the Winter Olympics, and the experience that they gained was something greater than they would have ever imagined.
Not only did White stop in the middle of the competition to go meet the kids, but he also gave them the snowboards he used during the Sochi Games as a great keepsake.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation posted a photo of the kids with the snowboards they received from White:

It is great to see White go out of his way to make these kids day and it speaks volumes about the quality individual he is.
Hopefully more athletes can embrace the Olympic spirit and bring a smile to the face of children across the world.
