The potential comeback story of 2014 is in jeopardy of being a non-story.

MLB.com’s Alden Gonzalez reports from Angels’ Spring Training camp that Mark Mulder injured his ankle while warming up for his bullpen session. The severity is unknown, but Mulder will not throw today. He is currently awaiting results of an X-Ray.

Mulder, 36, hasn’t pitched since 2008 and had announced his retirement in 2010. He signed a minor-league contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at the beginning of 2014 and had been considered a favorite to occupy the five-spot in their rotation.
