Following up on what FanSided’s own Matt Fisher reported this morning (click here) regarding left handed veteran Mark Mulder‘s injury, turns out he actually ruptured his left Achilles according to Mike DiGiovanna on Twitter.

Mulder was attempting to make a Major League comeback after missing the last five seasons. I’m sure he’s kept himself in baseball shape, but it appears his age is catching up with him. The 36 year old underwent an MRI after sustaining the injury during some drills.

An injury like this could end up forcing Mulder to retire from the game he’s trying to get back into. It’s a tough break for Mark, as he may end up missing the entire 2014 season. He could be designated for assignment, but a decision hasn’t been made just yet.

Mulder signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels last month. I can’t imagine what’s going through his mind right now.
