Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes has played in 48 games this season – 33 of them he’s come off the bench.
It’s not a role accustom to Barnes, who has taken a backseat given the offseason acquisition of Andre Iguodala. Barnes’ numbers have fallen and his struggles have rival teams itching to take the former North Carolina Tar Heel off the Warriors hands.
The Warriors don’t seem inclined to trade the young talent though, who says coming off the bench has been a challenge for him.
“I’m not going to front,” Barnes said just before the Rising Stars Challenge on Friday in New Orleans. “It’s been a challenge.”
If there is any good news though, Barnes did say that he feels he’s starting to come around and he’s getting more comfortable in that role.
The numbers suggest it as well given Barnes has averaged 13 points on 48% shooting this month compared to 7 points on 33% shooting in January. Granted, the sample size isn’t very large in February, but so far so good.
