2014 Sochi Winter Olympics Medal Count: Day 9 standings

Five gold medals will be up for grabs on Day 9 of the 2014 Winter Olympics, as the competing nations from around the world attempt to take their place atop the overall medal count for the Sochi Games.

Host nation Russia enters the day at the top of the medal count with 15 medals (4 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze) to their name, while the Netherlands and United States are close behind with 14 a piece.

Germany still has the most gold medals to their name with seven, but they rank only fifth in the overall count with 12 medals.

    If the US had 7 gold and no other medals, you would rank them first having the “whoever wins gold winner” mentality. Now that they don’t have enough gold, you rank them first because their bronze collection. With your propaganda yo just turn people off…this is not the cold war…

      I agree. The U.S. is the only country on the planet where you’ll see them rank by medal count. As if a bronze medal is worth the same as a gold. As if!

        It’s fixed now, but yesterday it said USA was 1. and Russia was 2. when they both had 16 medals with 4 each being gold and Russia had 7 silvers and USA only had 4.
