The Georgia Bulldogs flipped a 4-star defensive end from one of their SEC East rivals over the weekend when Chauncey Rivers decommitted from the South Carolina Gamecocks and gave his pledge to the Bulldogs.
The 6’3.5, 225-pound Rivers attends Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
Rivers committed to South Carolina back in July of 2013, but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to commit to childhood favorite.
“Georgia has always been my dream school,” Rivers told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “I’ve always wanted to go to Georgia, and I really like the new defensive coaches that they brought in.
“I felt comfortable (with making the switch) after talking to everybody. I wanted to end my recruiting today, so I went ahead and committed.”
Rivers, who is also a tight end, projects as a weak side defensive end in college.
He is considered the 11th best weak side defensive end prospect, the 20th best overall prospect in Georgia and the 199th best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports composite rankings.
