Why Cesaro’s victory over Randy Orton was huge

WWE Superstar Cesaro

The man that they call ‘Cesaro’ has been very impressive ever since he debuted against Tyson Kidd on SmackDown back in April of 2012.

Cesaro has recently gone through a name change along with Big E. Langston. The creative team dropped Antonio from his character name to make him sound tougher. The WWE did the same thing with Big E. and right now, both of these guys are making their new in ring names look amazing.

Now Cesaro is one half of The Real Americans with Jack Swagger and their outspoken and extremely prejudice manager Zeb Colter. It appears that the company is going to end up disbanding this team within the next month of so, as Swagger has been dropping matches but redeemed himself to become a number one contender for Big E.’s WWE Intercontinental Championship.

With Cesaro in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber match and Swagger in an Intercontinental Championship match on the same card, Colter is going to be busy. Zeb has been disappointed with Swagger over the last couple of weeks and has even resorted to slapping him clean across his face.

If Swagger ends up failing to become the Intercontinental Champion next Sunday, that may be it for him when it comes to Colter’s services.

Cesaro on the other hand appears to be the dark horse of the main event for the pay per view. The man is clearly a future WWE World Heavyweight Champion and proved on Friday night’s taping of SmackDown that he can defeat anybody.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton was put up against Cesaro in a non-title match. I didn’t watch the entire thing, but I caught a three minute clip that showed the ending of the bout. From what I was able to see, this match was amazing.

Cesaro was able to pick up the win, which is huge. Why is that huge? Because the WWE Universe appears to be falling in love with this guy week in and week out. He’s not at Daniel Bryan status just yet, or may never reach that, but the crowd went absolutely insane when he picked up the three count over the champion.

This is a huge step in the right direction for Cesaro and a singles competition for the title shouldn’t be that far off.

Here’s the three minute video from Friday Night Smackdown of Randy Orton going one on one with Cesaro.
