First year manager Rick Renteria agree’d to take on one of the biggest challenges in professional baseball today. Trying to turn the Chicago Cubs into one of the leagues worst, into the best they have to offer.
This team is stocked with talent in their farm system and have a couple of young players on the 25 man roster that have been turning heads. As a Chicago Cubs fan myself, I’m pretty excited to see what this team is going to do and what Renteria has to offer.
He was my favorite to win the job, mainly because of how well he works with Latino players. Now one guy he may be spending extra time with is shortstop Starlin Castro.
Castro has struggled with errors ever since he entered the league, but is getting somewhat better in the batters box. Renteria has the tools to turn this young man into a better player defensively and could try him out at the lead-off spot in the batting order according to Carrie Muskat on Twitter.

Starlin had an on base percentage of .284, a career low for the Cubs shortstop.
