Lil’ Wayne still believes he’s the best rapper alive and he’s looking to reclaim his throne after a long period of laying low with official record releases. It’s been over two years since we last saw Wayne drop a ‘Tha Carter’ album, but the rapper has announced that the fifth installment in the album series will be coming this year.
At a concert on Friday night, Drake brought Lil’ Wayne out on stage where the announcement was made that Tha Carter V will be dropping on May 5, 2014.
At a concert at the House of Blues in New Orleans on Friday, Feb. 14, Drake brought out the rapper and announced that his hotly-anticipated fifth installment in the “Carter” album series will be out May 5, according to video footage of the show posted by MotaHipHop.
Weezy’s labelmate made the announcement while onstage at a concert as part of kickoff festivities for the NBA All-Star game that’s to be held in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 16.
The album series has been wildly successful for Wayne as not only has it won over scores of fans, but it has appealed to critics as well. The project was expected to be announced around this time anyways, but w release date was not expected.
Some are questioning if Lil’ Wayne will meet the May 5th release date he’s set, but it appears he’ll be back with Tha Carter V and fans are already counting down the days until it drops.
