Last year at this time we knew that Wil Myers was supposed to be a great player. The tall tales from his minor league days told of a pure, can’t-miss hitter. That caused unrest among Kansas City Royals fans and joy from Tampa Bay Rays fans when he was dealt from the Royals to the Rays in the deal for James Shields.
Other than that, much was unknown for Myers last season. How soon his talent would translate was unknown. When he would get called up was unknown. How much he would play was unknown.
Coming off a .293/.354/.478 season that earned him AL Rookie of the Year, Myers faces fewer unknowns in 2014 Spring Training, including which doors he is supposed to walk through. He discussed as much upon arrival at camp (video from the Tampa Bay Times):
