With Eric O’Flaherty having undergone Tommy John surgery, the Athletics wanted to acquire some more bullpen depth.

They did so on Monday by acquiring left handed reliever Joe Savery from the Philadelphia Phillies. O’Flaherty was transferred to the 60-Day disabled list, as he is not expected back with the team until around mid season.

Savery, 28 years old, had a solid 20 innings for the Phillies last season, appearing in 18 games and earning a 3.15 ERA.
