Jimmy Paredes thought he was going into Spring Training as a member of the Houston Astros.
Then he was claimed by the Miami Marlins
Then he thought he was going to be competing for a roster spot for the Baltimore Orioles.
Now he’s going to be competing for a roster spot on the Kansas City Royals.
Earlier today, the Royals claimed Paredes off of waivers from the Orioles, which actually means more for Baltimore than it does for Kansas City. Upon claiming Paredes from the Marlins a few days ago, the Orioles were going to need to clear a roster spot for their newest member, Korean pitcher Suk-Min Yoon. Paredes was actually rumored to be designated by the team to create room, but now it appears that won’t be necessary.
Suk-Min Yoon passed his physical Friday evening and a press conference is expected this week to announce his signing. Yoon still needs a work visa before he can participate in major league camp, however.
