Sochi Olympics: Darya Domracheva becomes 1st woman with 3 biathlon golds in single Winter Games

Entering the women’s biathlon mass start on Monday morning, Darya Domracheva of Belarus was on a quest for her third gold medal in the 2014 Winter Olympics. After crossing the finish line, the gold was once again hers and she set a record by becoming the first woan to win three biathlon gold medals in a single Winter Games.

Domracheva beat out the silver medalist, Gabriela Soukalova of the Czech Republic, by an impressive margin of 20.2 seconds. Tiril Eckhoff of Norway won the bronze.

While no American women medaled in the event, Susan Dunklee scored the best finish ever for a United States women’s biathlon competitor by landing in 12th.
