There are still a couple of days before position players have to report to Spring Training, but there is one player who will definitely miss some time.

Rhett Bollinger,’s Twins beat writer, reports that shortstop Pedro Florimon will have his appendix removed Monday afternoon. The arthroscopic surgery will cause the 27-year old to miss at least the first 14 days of Spring Training.

Florimon went through his first full season as Minnesota’s shortstop in 2013, playing in 134 games and putting up a .221/.281/.330 slash line.
