Just one month after accepting the running backs coach job with the Connecticut Huskies, Ernest T. Jones has abruptly decided to resign from the position.

UCONN football‘s new head coach Bob Diaco described the move as “a shock, absolutely” and it will be made effective immediately.

According to the Hartford Courant, the decision by Jones to step down was “entirely family and personally related.”

“He took his time and deeply reflected,” Diaco told the Courant. “He took a week and deeply reflected with his family to make a decision for him and his family to resign his position here and focus on private family matters and pursue other opportunities that facilitate and suit his family.”

Before joining UCONN, Jones had served as the  Director of Player Development at Notre Dame.
