Arbitration: Indians, Justin Masterson agree on terms

Justin Masterson was practically at the door, waiting for a cab to take him to the airport to go to his arbitration hearing.

Luckily for Masterson and the Cleveland Indians, they avoided such a hearing. Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports that the two sides agreed on a one-year contract, and Jon Heyman reports that Masterson settled for just below the midpoint of their offers at $9.7625 million.

28-year old Masterson has emerged as the staff ace for Cleveland and went 14-10 with a 3.45 ERA in nearly 200 innings pitched as he made his first All-Star trip. He earned $5,687,500 in 2013.
