Blue Jays won't pay market price for Ervin Santana

There is only one big name free agent starter left on the market now, and one of the teams once favored to sign him may not be in.

After Matt Garza signed for 4-years, $50 million with the Brewers and with Ubaldo Jimenez signing with the Orioles (pending physical, of course) at 4-years, $50 million, most industry experts expect Ervin Santana to get the same type of offer. If those are the terms, the Blue Jays won’t play, according to Joel Sherman.

With the Royals’ General Manager Dayton Moore telling local media that he doesn’t see his club signing its former pitcher, Santana’s market narrows even further. The Seattle Mariners are now the most often mentioned club in connection with Santana. The Cleveland Indians, Ubaldo Jimenez’ former club, are also listed as potential landing spots for the 31-year old right-hander.
