As the United States awaits the the winner of the Czech Republic vs. Slovakia contest, they are preparing for their Wednesday morning/afternoon (US Time) quarterfinal matchup. Part of that preparation includes naming a starting goaltender for the game, and to no one’s surprise, head coach Dan Bylsma has announced that Jonathan Quick will be the man between the pipes for the Americans.
In his two games against Slovakia and Russia, Quick has 94% save percentage. His performance against Russia, particualarly in the shootout, allowed the Americans to take the game as well as clinch the group for a berth into the tournament quarterfinals.
Should Quick and the United States win their quarterfinal matchup, a likely date with defending Gold Medalist Canada awaits them in the Semifinals.
