MLB Rumors: Baltimore Orioles still in on Nelson Cruz or Kendrys Morales

The Baltimore Orioles decided to take a chance on Ubaldo Jimenez come Monday night, but it appears the team may not be done spending.

After being linked to just about every name free agent available, it appears the Orioles are still in on either Nelson Cruz or Kendrys Morales – this according to Jim Bowden of ESPN.

Orioles not done….still alive on Nelson Cruz or Kendrys Morales

With the Orioles signing Jimenez, they’ve forfeited their first round draft pick. Because of that, signing either Cruz or Morales (who were each given qualifying offers by their old teams and require draft pick compensation) will only cost then a second round pick in exchange.

Both Cruz and Morales are still holding out for larger deals but with spring training underway, neither player can afford to wait much longer.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are said to have interest in Morales while the Seattle Mariners still seem to be toying with the idea of adding Cruz.

It is not known what type of contract the Orioles would be willing to offer either slugger.
