The Cleveland Cavaliers are apparently serious about improving come the NBA’s trade deadline and are open to trading both Dion Waiters and their first round draft pick for a significant addition, this according to ESPN’s Chad Ford.
It’s been reported that Waiters was told he would not be traded by the Cavaliers in recent days, but we all know how that goes – especially when a good offer comes across the wire.
If the Cavs are determined to make a playoff push, they’ll offer Dion Waiters and their 2014 first-round pick in search of veteran help, Ford writes.
While Waiters has had his struggles, he and a solid first round pick isn’t a very bad haul. Of course, it’s not known how significant of an upgrade the Cavaliers are looking for.
You can’t help but think the Los Angeles Lakers could potentially offer up Pau Gasol again as Luol Deng, Kyrie Irving and Gasol would make up a very solid three-piece in the relatively woeful Eastern Conference. Though, Cleveland would likely need assurance that Gasol would re-sign come season end before parting with such high quality assets.
