The Minnesota Timberwolves publicly came out against making trades at the deadline, with Flip Saunders stating that they don’t mathematically make sense for losing teams. Nevertheless, the team is starting to pop up in more and more trade rumors with Marc J. Spears adding to the growing pile.

According to Spears, the Wolves are looking for a backup point guard but just because they’re looking doesn’t mean they’re going to pursue.

"The Wolves have interest in acquiring a backup point guard, but are more worried about improving their defense than a trade."

This desire to fortify the defense may ironically lead to another trade, as the Wolves are rumored to be involved in trade talks with the Memphis Grizzlies for Tayshaun Prince.

Either way, it appears that Minnesota doesn’t have a concrete plan heading into the deadline and will just look to see if things are there rather than actively pursuing a trade. Minnesota may end up making a move, but it seems far more likely that they’ll stand pat and take their chances with what they have.
