On Monday afternoon, rumors began to leak suggesting the New York Knicks had interest in Atlanta Hawks point guard, Jeff Teague.
However, it appears what interest they had is now dead as according to the New York Post, the Knicks will pass on a deal involving the veteran.
However, what makes such a deal a longshot for on-the-block Iman Shumpert is Teague has a long-term contract that would cut into the Knicks’ ballyhooed cap space for 2015 — the selling point they are using to convince Carmelo Anthony to re-sign.
The Knicks are expected to pass on Teague.
The main reason Teague is even on the block is due to his albatross of a salary thanks to the Hawks matching the Milwaukee Bucks offer sheet during the last offseason.
It’s been said the Hawks aren’t exactly thrilled with having his four year, $32 million dollar contract on the books and would like to move it. It appears they’re stuck with it for now though unless another team comes calling in the next two days.
