NBA Trade Rumors: New York Knicks still calling Boston Celtics about Rajon Rondo

You have to wonder if Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge is thinking about changing his phone number or blocking it all together, at least when the New York Knicks call.

After being shot down (more than once), the Knicks are reportedly at it again – attempting to lure the Celtics in to trade talks over Rajon Rondo, this according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

Knicks’ lust for new PG, I’m told, has inevitably prompted them to try to nudge Celts into Rondo talks … even though they know it’s futile

While the Knicks technically have pieces that could allow the Celtics to rid themselves of a few nasty contracts, the return simply isn’t there for the Celtics who’d be looking for young players and draft picks in exchange for Rondo.

The Knicks, meanwhile, have traded away their first round draft picks until the 2018 season.

Any such deal that would bring Rondo to the Big Apple would likely need a third or possibly fourth team as facilitators and we all know what happens when multiple teams get involved in a blockbuster deal.
