The Sacramento Kings front office could hardly contain themselves when Ben McLemore slipped to them in the 2013 NBA Draft.
That’s why trading the former Kansas Jayhawk seems extremely unlikely, a sentiment Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee echoes.
According to Jones, the Kings would need to be ‘blown away’ to even entertain the thought of trading McLemore.
Take any trade rumor mentioning Ben McLemore with several grains of salt. Kings would have to be blown away w/ a deal to move him.
Jones’ report comes on the heels of a rumor suggesting the Kings attempted to trade McLemore (along with Isaiah Thomas and multiple first round picks) to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Rajon Rondo.
While Rondo is a fine player, he isn’t going to fix the Kings problem along and trading two unprotected first round draft selections in addition to McLemore and Thomas is a bit of highway robbery.
So while it’s within reason to believe such a package may have been talked about, the Kings trading their young (although struggling) rookie appears to be extremely unlikely.
