The Toronto Maple Leafs could be in line to make a few moves leading up to the March 5 NHL Trade Deadline.
The Fourth Period comes right out and says it at the start of their post about the Leafs.
“Maple Leafs GM Dave Nonis will be fairly active over the next few weeks, as he continues his attempts to strengthen his roster leading up to the March 5 trade deadline.”
Saying that the Leafs will be fairly active pretty much says that they believe the Leafs will make at least two or three deals before the deadline. If that is the case, who would be moved.
TFP mentions the fact that the Leafs have had Nazem Kadri and Jake Gardiner floating around the rumor mill. They say if the Leafs were to make a deal involving one of those two, it would more than likely take place in the off-season. However, they also say that has not stopped General Manager Dave Nonis from exploring possibilities.
They also note that the Leafs would like to re-sign center Dave Bolland but would be prepared to deal him if they could not come to terms with him prior to the Trade Deadline.
The biggest things The Fourth Period says the Leafs are looking for a No. 1 center (Will that ever stop?) and ‘ top four, rugged’ blue liner. They also reaffirm what is pretty much known around the NHL: the fact that there are very few sellers around will keep deals from happening rather quickly.
