Shawn Marion: Right now, LeBron James doesn’t fit on NBA Mount Rushmore

When Miami Heat’s LeBron James began discussing the Mount Rushmore of NBA players and his desire to be on it, it got everyone talking. We’ve seen Mount Rushmores for every sport debated, though maybe none as hotly as the NBA’s. With the Heat prepared to take on the Dallas Mavericks, defensive specialist Shawn Marion will try and stop James.

So of course, Marion was asked if James is on the NBA’s Mount Rushmore and he gave a pretty honest answer.

“No, I think he’s very talented and he ain’t done playing,” Marion said, via the Dallas Morning News. “He’s still got a lot of years ahead of him, but right now? No.

“There’s a lot of guys up there that have done a lot more than he’s done in his career right now. They are going to be up there. But at the end of his career, who knows? It’s possible, definitely. I’m not saying it won’t happen, but right now, no.”

Of course you could easily come up with four players to put on the Mount Rushmore ahead of LeBron right now, like  Bill Russell, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabar for one combination. But James isn’t done writing his story like Marion points out.
